We are seeking two highly motivated staff to join the research team of Professor John R Speakman as associate professors. The successful candidates will have either a PhD or MD degree and have prior postdoctoral experience of work involving nutrition in humans, including recruitment of volunteers into nutrition trials. Familiarity with running such studies in mainland China and ability to speak mandarin (and also to effectively communicate in English) are essential requirements. A previous period of study in the USA or Europe would be a distinct advantage but not a prerequisite. The successful candidate will have a strong publication record in peer reviewed journals, and evidence of prior success in grant funding is desirable. Fitting into the research programme led by Professor Speakman into regulation of energy balance, one of the posts will concern primarily studies involving measurement of physical activity and energy expenditure and prior experience and expertise withstate of the art methods in these areas is required. The second post will focus more on the energy intake side of the energy balance equation and prior experience and expertise in performing studies of food intake, hunger and reward are essential attributes. Knowledge and use of methods for measuring body composition would be an advantage in both candidates. The positions offered will depend on current position and prior experience.
