The editorial board meeting of Journal of Genetics and Genomics (JGG) was held in Kunming, China on December 18, 2011. Thirty editorial board members took part in this meeting. First, Dr. Yongbiao Xue, Editor-in-Chief of JGG, welcomed everybody on behalf of the Genetics Society of China (GSC), the Institute of Genetics and Development Biology (IGDB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) as well as JGG.
Dr. Ying Zhang presented an annual JGG report including an overview of JGG, activities in 2011, the workflow and responsibility of editors, and plan and perspective for JGG development of 2012. Ms Ning Li, the publishing coordinator of Elsevier Information Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd, introduced the basic information of Elsevier and JGG’s cooperation with Elsevier, and then reported the progress and performance of JGG in 2011, with a steady impact factor increase over the last three years.
In the discussion section, editors expressed their opinions on the development of JGG and, in particular, on several strategies to increase its impact in the fields of genetics and genomics. Furthermore, editorial board members continued their discussion in two groups about JGG’s future directions and strategic development in the afternoon.
All editorial members gave their valuable suggestions and comments, which are important to improve JGG as always. JGG is determined to take firm and bold steps for a higher international impact and academic level in 2012 and beyond
